Billboard, Argyle Street

I liked this image because at first glance the real people in front of the poster look like they belong in the image behind them and have just stepped down from the wall and onto the pavement.

I love the colours in this picture. I collected a variety of objects for the shelves above the bed including the yellow papier mache dog, made by Dave Bradbury (For more of his art go here - the pale green pottery cup on the top shelf, made by Keith, a potter and a previous inhabitant of this room, and the red hearts made of mirrors hanging from the edge of the bottom shelf.

Yasmin, Politics Unzipped David Robb, Dexter Robb, Topaz, Alfred Hitchcock, Sky Movies Classics

Yasmin, Politics Unzipped

This was the last of the series to be made, and consequently it had the smallest budget as the five previous programmes had taken ‘loans’ from it to fund their own sordid stories. Yasmin was the assistant producer and took her job very seriously. She was still working hard when the rest of us had basically given up caring too much. Here she is on the phone, chasing up a lead on some more smut.

South bank in the evening Me and Dexter, on a Lovely hot day in Gladstone Park

South bank in the evening

When I first moved to London as an MA student I spent a lot of time along the south bank, mainly going to films for free at the National Film Theatre. They used to have matinee performances from about midday there and the bar was much grungier than it is now. I loved hanging out there. I was still drawn to the area two years later after the MA, and the free film tickets had evaporated.

Nicky Crabb and RT, Cities on the Move exhibition

This is at the Hayward Gallery on the South Bank. We’d just come out of the café to look at some kind of summerhouse thing that was part of the exhibition.

Cup Final Day in Leicester Square Baby Blue Tit learning to fly, West Hampstead

Cup Final Day in Leicester Square

There are always various tribes milling about in the centre of London at weekends, and a stop off at Leicester Square often seems to be on their itinerary. Football supporters are some of the easiest to spot thanks to their shirts and the noise they make. I guess this must have seen Newcastle in the final judging by the black and white (Or have I got my footaball colours all wrong?)

LED, Farringdon

This was the night I discovered my future husband – though obviously I didn’t realize it at the time. The blurry, over-exposed figure in the foreground is me, I’m wearing my favourite Mary Quant blouse. I wore it so much eventually it disintegrated.
