Patrick on my bed Me at Ikea, do we really need all this crap?

Patrick on my bed

Just like all cats Patrick was having a curious moment when he discovered me sorting through my tax paperwork. The wicker drawer on the left is one of ten in a piece of furniture that I still have – we’ve just been moving it around our new flat trying to decide where it should go – it’s done good service but I think it may get relegated to the ‘outside study’ very soon.

Buildings, from Fitzroy Square

I liked the way the sun caught the glass on these otherwsie pretty ordinary tower blocks. At this time of the year the light in London can be beautiful.

Electric cinema, Portobello Rd

I’ve never actually been to see a film at this cinema, though funnily enough they do have a mother and baby screening once a week I’ve been meaning to go along to. Though having said that, I’ m not sure if

RT working, 471a Finchely Road

By this time in 1999 RT was well underway with his book about British Television viewing habits. He worked mainly from home, and the book came out a year or so later.

Shoreham Airport

The day after the wedding and coming back on the train through Shoreham. I love the bit of the journey where the train weaves along the perimeters of Shoreham airport before heading over the wide mouth of the river Adur.

Wedding guests at Darren and Chris’s wedding, Chichester

A Ha, so this was where I was going, it’s all coming back to me now. I went to Sussex that weekend to celebrate the wedding of one of my old school friends, Darren Bramley. In this picture you can see a few of us waiting outside the church for the main event. Zach is on the bench smoking, and next to him is David Bradbury, and then Roz and Clive Padgett, they had got married a few years earlier. You can also see Bob Shaw in the forgeound in his shirt sleeves. Later that day, Zach famously wrote in the guest’s comment book – ‘Been to better,’ which apparently had Darren and Chris in hysterics for most of their wedding night.

Station, West Hampstead

Don’t know where I was going, maybe to East London, or maybe nowhere. It’s possible I stood on the steps on the way home from work and just snapped the platform in the dusk. What strikes me now is the slight shudder I feel looking at that steep flight of steps. Public transport and pushchairs are not a match made in heaven round here.
