Café on Great Titchfield Street Karen and Jen, Sammy Ray and Jess leaving the pool after swimming lessons

Café on Great Titchfield Street

I have absolutely no memory of being here or taking this picture. It’s not even very easy to tell the time of day it was taken. My guess is that it was during the day as I was in that vicinity to do some archive research at British Pathe News.

Latimer Road, Hammersmith and City Line

I think I must have been heading into Notting Hill one lunchtime when this picture was taken as its clearly the peak of the day. London an be beautiful in the Autumn, and hanging around at this particular tube station gives you ample time to appreciate it.

Spitalfields Market, E1 The Electric Cinema, Portobello

Spitalfields Market, E1

Earlyish in the morning. I loved this place the way it used to be – not like it is now – full of chain restaurants and practically professional market stall holders. Looking at this picture makes me hear the clatter of the scaffolding holding the stalls together, and feel the chill in the air. The building you can see on the far side of the market was pulled down to make way for the fancy new-build that is there now.

Pollarded trees, W10 First shoes

Pollarded trees, W10

A lovely crisp Autumn day – and there is something about trees cut like this which always compels me to capture the image. I think one of my earliest pictures from this year – way back in January – has a similar subject.

Henry Moore Institute, Leeds Little dog with a gammy leg, Cricklewood

Henry Moore Institute, Leeds

I really loved Leeds, and ended up moving there for a few months a year or so after these pictures were taken. This is a wonderful gallery, and Henry Moore is probably one of my favourite artists. In terms of art and culture I think Leeds and the surrounding area has some wonderful collections, and so much more easy to look round than ones on London. I loved the shiny black slate of this building’s exterior.

A town near Leeds Me and Dexter looking at tables, furniture shop, Finchley Road

A town near Leeds

Yes, well that’s quite apalling that I obviously couldn’t remember the name of the place I visited that weekend. I think though that it was Saltaire, and a very lovely place that is too. By this time RT had left London and my flat to start a PHD in Leeds.

Verity Newman, verity maidlow, Watchmaker Curly, climbing the pear tree in her new domain

Verity, Watchmaker

Well it looks as though Verity must have had a hot date to get to! I love the way she is multi-tasking – getting ready and watching clips of what looks like Hattie Jacques ad Eric Sykes. Respect. She hasn’t changed much, despite becoming a top TV producer, a wife, and mother to three lovely children including most recently, twins. Double respect.
